MOVIPREP FOR COLONOSCOPY

*Have your prescription filled at the pharmacy.

Day Before Exam

CLEAR LIQUID DIET ONLY (NO RED): Coffee, Tea, Juice, Soda, Jello, Popsicles, fat free Broth and Gatorade.

In the morning, mix the first liter of MoviPrep®. Fill the container from the kit with luke warm water. Put one Pouch A and one Pouch B in the container and mix thoroughly. Then place in the regrigerator to chill. Do not add sweeteners, flavoring agents, or ice to the solutions.

At 6 p.m. begin drinking the solution. Drink eight ounces every 15 minutes until the entire first liter is consumed. After this, mix the second liter of solution. Mix one Pouch A and one Pouch B with water in the container provided. Mix thoroughly and place in the refrigerator to chill.

At 9 p.m. begin drinking the second liter. Drink eight ounces every 15 minutes until all of the solution is consumed.

Then, drink 32 ounces of any clear liquid (no milk or milk products) before midnight.

Note: MOVIPREP is generally well tolerated; however, side effects may include nausea, bloating and mild abdominal cramping. If nausea or vomiting occurs, wait 30 minutes then restart.

Important

  1. You will need a driver to stay during the exam and drive you home.
  2. No aspirin or iron containing medications for one week before the exam.
  3. Take your regular blood pressure and heart medications morning of the exam.
  4. Before scheduling exam, please inform the doctor or nurse if you take diabetic meds, Coumadin, Warfarin or Plavix, so appropriate adjustments can be made.
  5. Results will be called or mailed to you if biopsies are taken.
  6. Stop liquids four hours before exam.
  7. Verbal and written instructions will be given to you and your driver after the exam; although, you may not remember due to medication given at time of exam.


OSMOPREP FOR COLONOSCOPY

Day Before Exam

CLEAR LIQUID DIET ONLY (NO RED): Coffee, Tea, Juice, Soda, Jello, Popsicles, fat free Broth and Gatorade.

This is the prep for early morning procedure 32 tabs.

At 6 p.m. take four Osmoprep tablets every15 minutes with at least eight ounces of any clear liquid until all 20 tablets have been consumed. Remain close to toilet facilities.

At 9 p.m. take four Osmoprep tablets every 15 minutes with at least eight ounces of any clear liquid until the remaining 12 tablets have been consumed. Remain close to toilet facilities.

Important

  1. You will need a driver to stay during the exam and drive you home.
  2. No aspirin or iron containing medications for one week before the exam.
  3. Take your regular blood pressure and heart medications morning of the exam.

VISICOL PREP FOR COLONOSCOPY

Pick up prescription for Visicol and purchase four Dulcolax (Bisocodyl) tablets.

Day Before Exam

CLEAR LIQUID DIET ONLY (NO RED): Coffee, Tea, Juice, Soda, Jello, Popsicles, fat free Broth and Gatorade.

5 p.m.: 4 tablets plus 8 to 16 ounces of clear liquids 5:15 p.m.: 4 tablets plus 8 to 16 ounces of clear liquids 5:30 p.m.: 4 tablets plus 8 to 16 ounces of clear liquids 6 p.m.: 4 tablets plus 12 ounce can Ginger Ale, Sprite or 7 Up 9 p.m.: 4 tablets plus 8 to 16 ounces of clear liquids 9:15 p.m.: 4 tablets plus 8 to 16 ounces of clear liquids 9:30 p.m.: take four Dulcolax (Bisocodyl)

At 5 p.m., mix as directed and drink an 8 oz glass of solution every 15 minutes, finishing all the solution to ensure good results.

Note: Goltely is generally well-tolerated; however, side effects may include nausea, bloating and mild abdominal cramping. If nausea or vomiting occurs, wait 30 minutes the restart.

12 noon: Take the four Dulcolax (Bisocodyl) tablets with 8 oz water 1 p.m.: Mix the solution with lukewarm water and shake. Refrigerate. 6 p.m.: Drink an 8 oz glass of solution every 15 minutes, finishing all the solution to ensure good results.

PEG 3350 PREP FOR COLONOSCOPY

Day Before Exam

CLEAR LIQUID DIET ONLY (NO RED): Coffee, Tea, Juice, Soda, Jello, Popsicles, fat free Broth and Gatorade.

12 noon: Take two Dulcolax (Bisocodyl) tablets with 8 oz water. 1 p.m.: Mix the solution with lukewarm water and shake. Refrigerate. 6 p.m.: Drink an 8 oz. glass of solution every 15 minutes until you have consumed eight glasses. This is generally enough solution to prepare most patients. There will still be remaining solution in the container.

If you still feel that you might no be prepared, then you can drink additional 8 oz. glasses of the solution. Rarely, the entire amount of solution might be necessary to prepare some patients, usually only I the patient has a significant prior history of constipation or infrequent bowel movements. In those patients, finishing all the solution will ensure the best results.

If your exam is scheduled at noon or later the next day, then drink two additional 8 oz. glasses of the remaining solution at 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on the day of the procedure.

Note: PEG 3350 is generally well-tolerated; however, side effects may include nausea, bloating and mild abdominal cramping. If nausea or vomiting occurs, wait 30 minutes the restart.

UPPER ENDOSCOPY PREP

Night Before Exam

NOTHING TO EAT AFTER MIDNIGHT THE DAY BEFORE THE EXAM.

Day of the Exam CLEAR LIQUID DIET ONLY (NO RED): Coffee, Tea, Juice, Soda, Jello, Popsicles, fat free Broth and Gatorade.

STOP ALL LIQUIDS FOUR HOURS BEFORE THE EXAM.

Note: After the procedure you may resume your normal diet.
